This is my first baby Matilija Poppy. It's only three feet tall - a grown up plant will be six to eight feet tall. The blooms should be almost a foot across, this one is only four inches. Just a cute little thing.
The photo below was taken on a misty, wet morning. The weight of the moisture pulled the petals down and I couldn't resist taking the photo from underneath.
The first hollyhock blossom, with many more to come.
